Chait: "Is the right right on the Clintons?"

My former classmate, the accomplished writer Jonathan Chait asks, "Is the right right on the Clintons?"  His column is worth reading, because while he's concerned by the Clintons' behavior, he also responds to a nanny-nanny-boo-boo Wall Street Journal Op-Ed celebrating the fact that Democrats are questioning Hillary's character.

In response to the Journal, let's be clear about one thing: Hillary Clinton would be better than either John McCain or Mitt Romney. I'm just not sure she can beat either one if she divides the Democrats to win the nomination.

Thanks to my friend CD for sending me the Chait column.

I have mixed feelings about the Clintons. I'd infinitely prefer Hillary as president to any of the Republican field, but I can't say the prospect fills me with much enthusiasm. She's obviously smart and capable, but after sixteen years of Clinton-bashing, four or eight more is unappealing. It's good to know that she knows how to throw elbows. Should she win, she'll certainly need it in the general election.
