Hillary Employs Republican-Style Attacks on Obama
With just a few days left before the critical contests in Texas and Ohio, Hillary Clinton's campaign promised to throw "the kitchen sink" at Barack Obama. Now we know what that looks like: a series of attack methods we've seen from Republicans during the past two presidential elections:
- The Rovian Parliamentary Attack: Clinton's Texas supporters are being instructed to gain control of the normally neutral caucus chair and secretary positions.
- The Robo-tack: Robocalls (during the Nevada Democratic caucus) emphasized Barack's middle name, Hussein.
- The Diss JFK Attack: Ed
Rendell, a former DNC Chair and a Clinton super delegate, said on "Real
Time with Bill Maher" Friday night, "You know JFK absolutely
energized my generation, but JFK had a tough time getting those changes
made in Washington DC." (Is Rendell saying we should have elected Nixon
in '60 instead since he had more Washington experience?)
- The Racist/Misrepresentation Attack: Clinton's campaign released a photo of Senator Obama wearing Somali dress while on an official visit, apparently to fuel Internet rumors that he is a Muslim. (Interesting, the Kenyan government may fine Clinton in cattle or goats over this.)
- The Liberal Elite Attack: Clinton surrogate Tom Buffenbarger described Obama supporters as latte-drinking Prius-drivers. (That one hits home.)
The positive side of all this, I guess, is that when it comes time for the general election, many typical Republican attacks on Obama will be old news...
